I challenge everyone to spread the fire about NASE!  Let's
spread it like wildfire! Talk to a co-worker or talk to someone in
a neighboring county about joining NASE.

NASE has been such a big part of my life and has given me
many opportunities.  Opportunities to travel to Washington D.
C. and see our Nations Ag Building.  Opportunities to meet the
staff in Washington D. C. and learn how our handbooks are
written and how our forms are designed.  Opportunities to ask
my questions to the people who have the answers.
Opportunities to travel to St. Louis and Kansas City and meet
all the wonderful staff there and learn how to make changes to
our computer software and programs.  Opportunities to attend
zone and national conventions and see and discover new
places. Opportunities to make friends for a lifetime. Meet
people across the United States who do the same job as I do.

Don't miss out! Get involved in NASE! We are looking for zone
alternates and members to serve on committees.  Please
volunteer!! You won't be sorry that you did and your life will be
enriched by it.

What NASE can do for you?
What NASE can do for you? Let me start by what NASE has done for me. I became the NASE National Treasurer in 2010,
since that time I find that :

1.
NASE is the non-supervisory voice to Washington DC and our state office.  Currently, I am the NEASE (Nebraska
NASE President) and we have just met with our SED this past week. When NASE meets with headquarters both nationally
and statewide, our leadership is open to discussion and is interested in issues in the field.
Get involved, speak up, it’s
important!
2.        NASE has provided the opportunity to see our great nation. I have attended NASE National Conventions in
Maine last year and Salt Lake City this year,  Zone meetings in St. Paul, MN, Fargo ND, Des Moines, IA, and two trips  to
WDC. All you need to do is say, “Yes, I would be glad to help”.
See America!
3.        NASE makes our jobs easier. I have submitted resolutions that have been voted on at Zone and National
Conventions. With the resolution process each and every one of you can submit a resolution to improve a process or
modify a form. With less people and more work we all need to come up with ways to save time and money.
 Submit a
resolution!
4.        NASE is a wonderful group. I have met and become friends with some of the most professional and greatest
people that I have ever met. These people donate their time as NASE officers. They will be my life-long friends.
Get
involved, you will be glad you did!
5.        NASE provides face to face meetings with our leaders. I have had breakfast with the Budget Director. When you
do get a chance to do that?
During this time of teleconferencing doesn’t it make sense to seize the opportunity to
have person to person meetings?
6.        NASE is a rewarding association. I was honored and humbled in June at the National Convention to receive the
Spirit Award from NASE. I cannot tell you how much that award means to me and I thank you for recognizing me.
Get
involved get recognized!
7.        NASE supports one FSA. I have served on the Joint FSA National Convention Committee. This has been a work in
progress. With budget the way it is, speakers from WDC will not be able to travel to both the NASCOE Convention and the
NASE/NACS/RD Convention in the coming years. Doesn’t it make sense to have one convention?
Let’s support one FSA!
8.        NASE combines work and fun. At National Conventions and Zone Meetings, my husband, Bruce and I have golfed
courses from New York to Idaho in the past two years thanks to the NASE National Convention being held from east to
west.
You can see America TOO!

What can I say about myself?  I am a life time member of the Girl Scouts.  I believe that often defines me.
From the Girl Scouts I learned to be prepared, to be flexible, to believe in team work, and know that I can do
anything.  I also, learned the same things from my family who are also very involved in Scouting.  I am the
second youngest of six children; I have one brother and five sisters.

Now a days about the only hobby I have time for is training my horse.  I ride Hunter/Jumpers and Dressage.
I used to ride Western and packed pack horses into the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming.  By the way, with
this hobby I must be prepared, be flexible, believe in team work, and must know we (my horse & I) can do
anything.

I started my career with ASCS (now FSA) in 1986 as temporary Program Assistant in the Lincoln County and
Gage County Nebraska ASCS offices.  I would spend spring and summer as Riding Director/Instructor for the
Girl Scout National Center West in Wyoming and would spend the rest of the year working for ASCS.  In
1990 became a permanent Program Technician in Keith County Nebraska and transferred to Lee/Chambers
County Alabama FSA office in 1995.  I returned to Nebraska to be closer to family in the fall of 2000 and now
work as a FLP Program Technician in the Custer County Nebraska office.  Some of you might think that
seems like a lot of offices and maybe so, but it taught a lot about our Agency and gave me a well rounded
training.  I have found when working for FSA I need to be prepared, be flexible, believe in team work, and
must know we (Employees of FSA) can do anything.

When I started as FLP Program Technician I was told about NASE.  I have been member of NASCOE since I
was a temporary PT and found the idea of an employees’ organization which improves our daily work
environment very appealing.  I especially love the fact that NASE is involved improving our various software
programs and our forms.  I encourage both
FP and FLP Program Technicians to join NASE.  I like to send a
special invitation to the Farm Program Technicians to join NASE.  I would love to have Farm Program
Technicians have a greater voice concerning the improvement of Farm Program software and forms.  It is
rare to have an employee organization which improves our daily work environment and in doing so improves
our service to our producers.
